First of all, RevTeX 4 is fully compatible with LaTeX 2e and it relies on standard LaTeX 2e packages for common tasks (as examples, graphics/graphicx, color, hyperref and longtable). The first natural question one might ask before using any different document classes (or an entire macro package) would be close to what are the design principles of this new document class? Since, for pratical purposes, RevTeX 4 is a new document class and it is really different from ams or article document classes (see comparison section), let’s cite some of the principles listed in RevTeX’s Home Page.
